Dear friends and family:  December, 2016

We are sending our Christmas cards early this year because we have moved.
You may need our new address.  Our Christmas greetings will be very short.

Merry Christmas                 and                 Happy New Year

from the

Elinor Tree

First the good news: Rose has responded very well to her leukemia treatment and Jeremy and Ginny have been able to move the family back to their home in Gibsons from temporary accommodations in West Vancouver.

Twins on Bikes

Twins at Play
Rose is smaller and less robust than Nina but the two play happily together and are very mutually supportive. They must avoid situations where they could be exposed to infections. It makes life more challenging for their parents but all i
all it looks like a good outcome.

This has been a very difficult year for us.  Elinor
Our 39-year-old daughter, Elinor, died on March 30 after a month in the ICU, from complications of surgery.  She had been very happy in her new home and her friends and caregivers were deeply affected.  Her death was unexpected and has left us struggling to adjust.  We did not have a formal funeral.  Because Elinor loved parties, we celebrated her life with a “party”.  We were astonished when over 200  people, who had been influenced by her in some way, came invited only by the obituary and word of mouth.  Her friends and caregivers spoke passionately about their lives with her.  We regret that we failed to acknowledge all the cards and emails of condolence and all the charitable donations.  If yours was missed, we thank you and sincerely apologize.

Then, on November 12th, Eleanor, Gene’s sister, died in the ICU in Toronto, also from complications of surgery, followed very soon by the death of Mary’s good friend Anne in Montreal.

We hope that this has been a good year for you and that 2017 will be too.

Best Wishes.
